OpenAI has partnered with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Common Sense Media to address the integration of artificial intelligence in education. The collaboration has resulted in the launch of two educational initiatives: a free one-hour course titled "ChatGPT Foundations for K-12 Educators" and a more comprehensive course called "AI in Education: Leveraging ChatGPT for Teaching." The latter, led by Ethan Mollick and Lilach Mollick, consists of four modules covering generative AI basics, prompt creation, and ethical considerations. Despite these efforts, concerns remain regarding the potential normalization of AI in educational settings without sufficient focus on its ethical implications. A recent experiment indicated that students using ChatGPT as a study assistant performed worse on tests, highlighting the need for cautious implementation of AI tools in learning environments.
