Egypt said Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held talks on Thursday with his Qatari counterpart aimed at activating a previously announced $7.5 billion “partnership package” of direct Qatari investments. A Cabinet statement described the discussions as part of efforts to deepen a rapidly improving bilateral relationship. Cairo and Doha first agreed in April to work toward the investment program as Egypt sought fresh Gulf funding to ease fiscal pressures. The two governments are now moving to finalize the structure and deployment schedule of the funds, the statement added.
