The Arizona Department of Transportation has released a draft update to its 2025 Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan that would extend the state’s fast-charging network to nine additional highway corridors. The proposal covers 21 new or upgraded sites along routes including State Routes 77, 69 and 179, each equipped with at least four 150-kilowatt direct-current chargers capable of replenishing most batteries in about 30 minutes. ADOT said the build-out will be financed with $76.5 million in federal money from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, supplemented by private contributions, with no state funds required. Construction of the new stations is scheduled to follow the 18 locations awarded last year and is expected to finish in 2026. Members of the public can submit comments on the plan through Sept. 8 via the agency’s website, email, phone or mail.
