EU’s Dombrovskis Warns Tariff Uncertainty Is Hurting Investment

European Union Economy Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis said on Tuesday that prolonged uncertainty over trade tariffs is already dampening economic growth and curbing investment across the bloc. He noted that companies are postponing spending decisions while they wait for clarity on future duties. Dombrovskis welcomed the recent decision to push back the introduction of new tariffs until 1 August, arguing the reprieve gives Brussels more time to negotiate. He added that concluding a comprehensive trade agreement with the United States as quickly as possible remains the EU’s best option for reducing the drag on business confidence.
