In 2024, global venture capital (VC) investments increased by 5.4% to reach $368.5 billion, despite a 17% decline in the number of deals. This uptick in investment contrasts with the European market, where VC deals fell to levels not seen since 2017. Notably, over half of the $71 billion raised by VC firms in 2024 was concentrated in just nine firms. The total number of active venture capitalists has also decreased, dropping by 25% from a peak of 8,315 in 2021.
