White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said the administration is prioritising a comprehensive trade accord with the European Union, calling it "the most important deal" on the U.S. agenda. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Navarro added that Washington intends to keep existing tariffs on imported European steel and aluminum in place during the negotiations. He declined to say whether other products, such as European wine, might receive exemptions.
