Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin USDT, has acquired a minority stake in Bit2Me, a MiCA-licensed Spanish cryptocurrency exchange. The investment is part of a €30 million funding round led by Tether Ventures, Tether's investment arm, aimed at expanding its presence in European and Latin American markets, particularly Spanish-speaking regions. The funding round, equivalent to approximately $34.86 million, is expected to close in the coming weeks. This strategic move establishes a regulated foothold for Tether within the European Union amid evolving crypto regulations under MiCA. Additionally, Tether has increased its Argentine asset holdings by $35 million in a wallet, reflecting its ongoing asset accumulation in Latin America.
