Two Men Sentenced in Landmark Cryptocurrency Fraud Case; Bulgaria to Charge Ruja Ignatova
In a landmark federal case, two men have been sentenced for orchestrating multimillion-dollar cryptocurrency securities fraud and wire fraud schemes. This case marks the first time a jury in a federal criminal trial has found that a cryptocurrency was a security and that manipulating cryptocurrency prices constituted securities fraud. Additionally, Bulgaria has announced plans to press charges against Ruja Ignatova, the so-called Cryptoqueen, who co-founded a cryptocurrency scheme believed to have defrauded investors of more than $4 billion.
