Coinbase has opened a public beta of “Embedded Wallets,” a software-development kit that lets app builders add crypto wallets directly into their products with just a few lines of code. The tool supports in-app fiat on-ramps, token swaps and rewards, allowing users to create a wallet via email without handling seed phrases. Coinbase says the onboarding process can take roughly 200 milliseconds, while private keys are stored in trusted execution environments. Balances held in the wallets earn 4.1% rewards on the stablecoin USDC. The service is free for customers that use Coinbase’s Onramp payments product until 30 September, after which pricing has not been disclosed. The launch expands Coinbase’s push to supply back-end infrastructure for developers as competition among crypto platforms shifts from consumer trading to embedded financial services.
