The CAC 40 index experienced a notable rise following the easing of trade tensions between the United States and China, marked by a reduction of tariffs by a factor of five. This development led the CAC 40 to approach 7,900 points, supported by positive market sentiment and a suspension of customs duties between the two countries. However, the defense sector faced some pressure amid these changes. Subsequently, the Paris stock market saw volatility with significant declines in shares of Alstom and Beneteau. Alstom's stock plummeted by 16%, a drop considered by some analysts to be excessively severe given models suggesting a potential upside of 65%. Trading volumes for Alstom and Claranova were notably abnormal during this period. Despite these setbacks, Trigano's shares rose by 10%. Overall, the CAC 40 closed slightly lower after these fluctuations. Additionally, Wall Street showed gains influenced by a separate record agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia.
