France has allocated an emergency fund of €8 million to support farmers in the Aude department after a large wildfire swept through the Corbières massif last week. Agriculture Minister Annie Genevard said the blaze damaged an estimated 1,000 to 1,500 hectares of vineyards and other farmland, leaving growers facing heavy crop and infrastructure losses. Authorities warned that the eastern part of Aude remains under “extreme” wildfire risk on Sunday as high temperatures and drought persist. Earlier in the week, a separate fire in neighbouring Charente was brought under control after burning roughly 230 hectares of vegetation. Fire services remain on heightened alert across southern France amid a season of unusually dry conditions.
