French electricity prices increased by 15% in August, reaching their highest level since March. The surge is attributed to concerns that an ongoing heat wave across France could reduce output from the country's nuclear reactors. This rise in power prices coincides with a record peak in electricity demand in the United States in July, driven by heat, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
