Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau Deploys Reinforcements and Opens Guadeloupe Police Station Against 'Tsunami Blanc' Drug Crisis

Bruno Retailleau, France's Minister of the Interior, has emphasized the government's commitment to combating drug trafficking in the overseas territories of Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Mayotte. Describing the narcotics trade as a national crisis comparable to terrorism, Retailleau announced the deployment of additional security reinforcements to Martinique in response to what he termed "a tsunami blanc" impacting the country. During his visit to Martinique, he also inaugurated a new police station in Guadeloupe as part of efforts to strengthen law enforcement capabilities. The situation in the overseas territories has been highlighted as unacceptable compared to metropolitan France, with concerns raised about water supply issues in Mayotte and security challenges linked to drug trafficking in Guadeloupe and Martinique. Commentators have noted that Retailleau's approach includes concrete solutions to address these problems.
