Ligue 1+, the new streaming platform dedicated to broadcasting the French Ligue 1 football championship, has experienced a strong launch during its first weekend, attracting over 600,000 subscribers. The platform offers immersive and behind-the-scenes content from matches, a feature that has been well received and contributed to its rapid subscriber growth. Nicolas de Tavernost, CEO of LFP Media, described the debut as "exceptional" and expressed ambitions to reach one million subscribers soon. Despite these promising results, a recent distribution deal between Canal+ and LFP Media for Ligue 1+ fell through after the LFP imposed conditions that Canal+ could not accept. Meanwhile, the launch of Ligue 1+ appears to have resolved previous broadcasting challenges for the Ligue 1 championship, signaling a potentially new era in French football media coverage.
