French sides Olympique Lyonnais, OGC Nice and Lille OSC learned their 2025-26 UEFA Europa League league-phase opponents in Friday’s draw. Lyon avoided most of the traditional heavyweights and will host Salzburg, PAOK, Basel and the Go Ahead Eagles while travelling to Real Betis, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Young Boys and Utrecht. Nice faces a markedly tougher calendar that includes trips to FC Porto, Fenerbahçe and Celta Vigo and home meetings with AS Roma, SC Braga, Freiburg, Ludogorets and the Go Ahead Eagles. The revamped league-phase format requires each club to play eight fixtures—four home, four away—with the top eight of the 36-team table advancing directly to the round of 16 and sides ranked 9-24 entering a play-off. The first matchday is scheduled for 18 September.
