French broadcaster M6 launches the 20th season of its rural dating show “L’amour est dans le pré” on Monday, 11 August, at 21:10. Host Karine Le Marchand told RTL that the new edition will introduce a purpose-built “village” where she will act as “mayor” to help 15 single farmers—12 men and three women—from across France look for partners. Ahead of the premiere, two special episodes titled “Que sont-ils devenus ?” update viewers on former participants. Among the highlights is Gillou, a 70-year-old retired livestock breeder from Sarthe who left last year’s season single but has since begun a nine-month relationship he says began at a local dance. Le Marchand added that some contestants have become close friends, noting, “Certaines candidates dorment à la maison,” while emphasising she maintains professional distance. The long-running series, which Le Marchand has presented since 2009, remains one of M6’s most popular programmes. Two further anniversary specials are planned later in the season, during which up to 80 alumni couples are expected to gather, with some renewing their wedding vows.
