The Occitanie regional government, led by President Carole Delga, has unveiled a series of measures for the 2025-2026 school year aimed at supporting high school students, youth, and families. The region is prioritizing purchasing power, education, mobility, and security. Families in Occitanie are expected to save an average of €800 at the start of the school year through initiatives such as free textbooks, the Carte Jeune, and cultural and mobility assistance programs. A €63 million plan running from 2016 to 2028 aims to secure 100% of high schools by 2025 with video surveillance, access controls, and alert systems. For the 2025 school year, the region is investing €65 million to support 230,000 students and their families. Additionally, in 2024-2025, 170,000 students traveled free of charge on trains and liO buses, resulting in savings of up to €315 per family. Following a major wildfire in Aude, Carole Delga has called for an "Occitanie Résiliente" plan to address climate emergencies and administrative obstacles. Meanwhile, in Rouen, young people will benefit from free transportation starting this school year, and three high schools in Rennes are testing initiatives to reduce overcrowding in metro services.
