Paris Saint-Germain opened its home campaign with a 1–0 victory over Angers on Friday, securing a second straight win to start the Ligue 1 season and moving provisionally top of the table. Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz settled the match at the Parc des Princes five minutes after the interval, sweeping in a loose ball from close range. PSG’s dominance had gone unrewarded in the first half when winger Ousmane Dembélé drove a 27th-minute penalty over the bar. Despite enjoying more than 80 % possession, the European champions struggled to create clear chances until Ruiz’s strike broke Angers’ resistance. Newly signed goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier enjoyed a quiet league debut for PSG, facing no shots on target. Coach Luis Enrique fielded nearly his full first-choice XI, with only injured forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia absent. The result follows last week’s 1–0 win at Nantes and keeps the champions perfect ahead of the remainder of the weekend’s fixtures.
