Violent clashes erupted in Aurillac during the International Street Theatre Festival, involving confrontations between militants and law enforcement. The unrest took place in the city center overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, with approximately 300 individuals participating. Protesters threw paving stones at riot police (CRS) and erected barricades. The mayor of Aurillac, a member of the Socialist Party, described the events as a significant trauma for the local population and noted the presence of about 60 activists intent on confrontation. Philippe Loos, the prefect of the Cantal region, stated that the rioters were equipped to face the police and aimed to disrupt public order. In response, authorities announced plans to strengthen security measures for the festival.
