Violent storms swept through parts of central and eastern France, notably affecting the Nièvre and Saône-et-Loire departments. In Nièvre, severe weather conditions led to the evacuation of over 770 people from a camping site in Saint-Honoré-les-Bains, where falling trees injured two individuals. A 49-year-old woman later died at a Dijon hospital due to injuries sustained from a tree fall. The storms brought heavy hail, rain, and thousands of lightning strikes, with hailstones reportedly reaching up to 3 centimeters in diameter in Palinges. The region experienced extensive damage, including crushed vehicles and widespread flooding. Rainfall exceeded 112 millimeters in some areas, breaking several precipitation records. The storms impacted a broad area stretching from the Pyrénées to Alsace, causing significant disruptions and damage in Bourgogne and beyond.
