The hack led to posts that included derogatory comments about Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj, and flirtatious messages directed at Andrew Tate. Doja Cat confirmed the hack on Instagram, stating that the messages were not from her. The scam resulted in investors losing $1.6 million after the promoted token, referred to as Doja coin, skyrocketed and then plummeted. The now-deleted posts included an image of Doja Cat in armor, urging followers to buy the token and included the token's Solana contract.
