Alkem Laboratories, India's fifth largest pharmaceuticals company, is in discussions to acquire Novartis India's unit from its Swiss parent company. The total value of the deal is expected to be around ₹2,000 crore, according to sources speaking to CNBC-TV18's R_Dhanrajani. Other companies, including Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (DRL) and Zydus, are also in the fray to buy the India arm of Novartis AG.
