


Cybercrime has become a significant issue in India, with a reported loss of ₹845 crore in Bengaluru alone during 2024. Cyber Law Expert Pavan Duggal highlighted a new scheme where criminals impersonate police, accusing individuals of viewing child pornography and demanding money through fear tactics. In response, the Cyber South West district in Delhi has arrested 17 individuals involved in various cyber crimes, including online stock market scams and work-from-home frauds. Authorities conducted raids across seven states, resolving 148 complaints with a total fraud amount of approximately ₹6.9 crore. DCP Rohit Meena indicated that investigations are ongoing, with links to additional accused being explored.
