
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) exhibited varied activity in the Indian equity market from December 13 to December 17, 2024. On December 13, FIIs recorded a net purchase of ₹2,335.32 crore, while DIIs had a net sale of ₹732.20 crore. Cumulatively, FIIs had invested ₹14,435 crore in equities through exchanges by the same date, indicating a potential shift in sentiment as FII selling appeared to have subsided in the short to medium term. However, on December 16, FIIs reported a net sale of ₹278.70 crore, with DIIs also selling ₹234.25 crore in equities. The trend continued on December 17, as FIIs recorded a net sale of ₹6,409.86 crore, contrasting with DIIs, which net bought ₹2,706.48 crore. Additionally, 2024 has seen a record ₹45,650 crore ($5.4 billion) in IPO anchor investments, primarily driven by mutual funds and FIIs, despite a seasonal lull in offerings. Indian companies have raised a total of $16 billion through share sales to large investors this year, reflecting robust market activity.
