In February 2025, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold Indian equities worth ₹11,639.02 crore on February 28, marking their highest single-day sell-off for the month. Overall, FIIs were net sellers of ₹34,574 crore throughout February. Meanwhile, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) net bought ₹12,308.63 crore in equities on the same day, resulting in a net inflow of ₹669.61 crore. This trend comes amid a broader capital flight from the Indian equity market, with Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) offloading shares worth $25 billion over the past five months. The Nifty50 index is experiencing its longest losing streak in 29 years, contributing to the heightened selling activity from FIIs. Recent data also indicated that FPIs had withdrawn nearly $13 billion in total outflows for the year as of February 27, 2025.
