Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have continued to withdraw from Indian equities, pulling out ₹21,272 crore in February 2025 alone, contributing to total outflows nearing ₹1 lakh crore for the year. This marks the eighth consecutive session of net selling by FPIs, who have sold over $11.23 billion across 32 trading sessions in 2025. The benchmark Nifty index has fallen 3.74% year-to-date, reflecting broader market concerns amid global uncertainties. Despite the FPI outflows, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) provided some support with inflows of ₹18,745 crore, partially offsetting the impact of foreign withdrawals. The decline in market assets is underscored by a reported drop of ₹1.1 lakh crore in assets under management of equity mutual funds in January 2025.
