The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) held its 44th Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) meeting, emphasizing the need to strengthen food safety infrastructure and reduce pesticide use. FSSAI CEO G Kamala Vardhana Rao called for urgent action to address food safety concerns, including filling vacant Food Safety Officer (FSO) posts and upgrading testing laboratories. Rao also urged states to establish inter-ministerial panels to focus on reducing pesticide usage to ensure consumer safety.
