Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and Honasa Consumer Pvt Ltd, the parent company of Mamaearth, have reached an agreement to modify their sunscreen advertising campaigns following a legal dispute. The Delhi High Court ordered the removal of a 'disparaging' Lakme advertisement by HUL after both companies filed defamation cases against each other. As part of the resolution, HUL agreed to replace the phrase 'online bestseller' with 'some seller' and change the color of the product displayed in its Lakme sunscreen ads. Additionally, Honasa was directed to take down all social media posts that disparaged Lakme. HUL also committed to removing references to other sunscreens from its advertisements. Despite this truce and campaign modifications, the companies indicated that they will continue to resolve their differences through ongoing court proceedings.
