The Election Commission of India has issued orders to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to take down certain posts related to political speech during the ongoing six-week general elections, conducted in seven phases from April to June. These posts were identified as being in violation of the electoral code of conduct. The directive specifically targets posts by political leaders from the YSR Congress Party, the Telugu Desam Party, the Aam Aadmi Party, and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Despite its disagreement with the order, X has complied and withheld the specified posts until the poll period concludes.
