India Says US Encouraged Its Post-War Purchases of Russian Oil
India’s Ministry of External Affairs said the country began buying Russian crude only after the outbreak of the Ukraine war, when much of its traditional supply was rerouted to Europe. The ministry added that, at the time, Washington had "actively encouraged" New Delhi’s purchases to help stabilise global energy markets. The statement comes as India’s continued intake of discounted Russian barrels draws renewed scrutiny from some U.S. politicians and allies.
