In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, the Indian government has blocked over 87,000 accounts on WhatsApp and Skype connected to digital arrest scams. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), reported that it identified and blocked 83,668 WhatsApp accounts and 3,962 Skype IDs involved in these fraudulent activities. The MHA expressed concerns regarding the rising incidence of cybercrimes, including digital arrest scams and online blackmail, during a session in the Rajya Sabha.
