
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has initiated the creation of a consultative platform with telecom stakeholders, aiming to provide insights on matters related to the telecommunication ecosystem. The Ministry of Communications has constituted six distinct Stakeholders Advisory Committees (SACs) to address various issues within the sector. The committees will focus on satellite advisory, telecom equipment OEMs, and telecom electronic OEMs. A detailed discussion was held with three of these advisory groups, including those for ISPs, Telecom Service Providers (TELCOs), and academia in R&D. Key industry figures such as Sunil Mittal of Bharti Airtel, Akash Ambani of Reliance Jio, and N Chandra attended the meetings, which followed recent mobile tariff hikes. Scindia emphasized the development of an action plan with timelines and actionable items to foster sector growth and transform India into a telecom superpower. The Stakeholder Advisory Committee for TSPs was also convened.
