
A cyber-criminal who attempted to swindle a police officer in Kerala found himself under investigation by the Thrissur police's cyber wing. The scammer, posing as a Mumbai cop, inadvertently targeted a real officer, leading to a swift response from the authorities. This incident highlights the growing trend of sophisticated digital frauds in India, where even educated professionals like engineers and cybersecurity experts are involved in scams. In a separate case, a 77-year-old retired engineer from Rohini, Delhi lost over Rs 10 crore in a digital fraud that lasted 19 days. Additionally, the Gurugram Police uncovered a Rs 33.5 crore cyber fraud, recovering Rs 14.47 lakh and nine mobile phones used in the crime. India has reported over Rs 120 crore in losses due to digital arrest scams in the first quarter of the year.
