A severe landslide near the Vaishno Devi temple in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, has resulted in the deaths of over 30 people, with 14 others undergoing treatment at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the hospital to meet the injured and urged doctors to provide the best possible care. The Indian Army conducted a high-risk helicopter rescue operation to evacuate civilians and police stranded in flood-affected areas, including a dramatic evacuation from a collapsing building. Flooding and landslides have also impacted other northern Indian states, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Telangana, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand. Restoration work is underway on affected highways such as the Chandigarh-Manali Highway and National Highway 44. The Punjab Interior Department has called in the Army to assist with flood relief in Lodhran, and the Indian Army has deployed amphibious vehicles like the ATOR N1200 to rescue villagers in flooded areas of Punjab and Amritsar. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other officials conducted aerial surveys of flood-affected districts, while evacuations by Army helicopters were carried out near the Upper Maneru Project. Local officials across the affected regions are monitoring weather advisories and coordinating disaster management efforts to mitigate further damage and ensure public safety.
