Union Minister Piyush Goyal has announced the establishment of a dedicated Startup India Desk within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to serve as a helpline for budding entrepreneurs across India. The helpline will be accessible through a four-digit toll-free number and will offer support in regional languages. Goyal also revealed the approval of the second Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS) with a corpus of Rs 10,000 crore. This year, Rs 2,000 crore will be disbursed to SIDBI as the first installment, with a significant portion reserved for seed funding of small startups and to support deep-tech innovation in cutting-edge technologies like AI, robotics, quantum computing, machine learning, precision manufacturing, and biotech. The Startup Mahakumbh 2025, held in New Delhi, saw participation from lakhs of people, including investors, students, and entrepreneurs. The event showcased India's strength in sectors such as deeptech, agritech, biotech, medtech, artificial intelligence, gaming, and more. The Startup Maharathi Awards highlighted the participation of 40% of entrepreneurs from tier 2 and 3 cities, including women-led startups. Goyal urged startups to focus on high-tech areas like robotics, machine learning, and automation, rather than solely on food delivery apps, emphasizing the need for Indian startups to innovate and compete globally. He also mentioned that the next Startup Mahakumbh will feature over 5,000 startups, particularly those focused on technology, and stressed the importance of mobilizing patient capital to build a strong pipeline of indigenous technology solutions to position India as a global innovation leader.
