A ransomware attack has significantly impacted C-Edge Technologies Ltd., a technology service provider, leading to the disruption of payment services for around 300 small Indian banks, including regional rural and cooperative banks. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) responded by temporarily isolating C-Edge Technologies from the retail payment systems to prevent further impact on the payment ecosystem. This isolation led to customers being unable to access services such as ATM withdrawals and UPI transactions. Restoration efforts are underway, and connectivity with C-Edge Technologies has been re-established following a security review. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and C-Edge Technologies have yet to comment on the incident.
