A Delhi court has convicted Medha Patkar, the leader of the Narmada Bachao Andolan, in a defamation case lodged by V. K. Saxena, the current Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. The case, which was initially filed in 2001 when Saxena was the Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), concluded with the Saket court finding Patkar guilty of publishing imputations with the intent and knowledge that they would harm Saxena's reputation. The conviction marks a significant victory for Saxena.
