The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has banned Vijay Mallya from trading in the Indian securities market for three years. This decision comes as a result of Mallya's involvement in indirect trading of his own group's shares. Mallya, a fugitive businessman, is also accused of a bank loan default case worth ₹9,000 crore involving his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines.
