The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is in advanced discussions with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) to resolve a longstanding co-location case ahead of the NSE's much-anticipated initial public offering (IPO). The NSE is reportedly offering approximately $118 million (around Rs 1,000 crore) to settle the dispute, which has contributed to a surge in the exchange's valuation to about $58 billion in private markets. Concurrently, SEBI has issued a directive mandating that the expiry day for equity derivative contracts on exchanges be fixed to either Tuesday or Thursday, with exchanges required to submit their proposals by June 15. This move aims to reduce expiry-day risk and enhance market stability. Additionally, SEBI has imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) for incomplete and delayed disclosures related to payments to 63 Moons and delays in migrating to a trading platform developed by Tata Consultancy Services. Market reactions include a nearly 2% drop in BSE shares following SEBI's expiry day directive. SEBI is also considering reforms to block deals, including wider price bands and new trading windows. Meanwhile, regulatory developments in Bangladesh include the Securities and Exchange Commission reducing maintenance fees for beneficiary owner accounts, directing a portion of interest income to the Stock Exchange Investors Protection Fund, approving the launch of a commodity derivatives market at the Chittagong Stock Exchange, and initiating legal processes for mutual fund and public issue regulations.
