The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the Agency for International Development have provided substantial financial support to various projects and funds primarily focused on India between 2021 and 2025. The DFC allocated funds through foreign investment financing, equity investments, direct loans, and guaranteed loans to multiple recipients, including private equity and venture capital funds such as Amicus Capital, Ankur Capital Fund III, Avaana Capital, Iron Pillar India Fund II, and IIX Women's Catalyst Fund. These funds target sectors like early-stage technology startups, climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, women's economic empowerment, and COVID-19 recovery for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Notably, the DFC extended a $250 million direct loan to TP Solar Limited for constructing and operating a 4GW solar power project. Other loans supported biomass briquetting plants, electric bike fleet expansion, and microfinance portfolios serving rural women. The Agency for International Development granted funds to organizations such as Path for maternal and child health services, GSMA Mobile for Development Foundation for women in the digital economy, Jhpiego Corp for reproductive health access, and various institutions working on climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and digital economy initiatives in India. Additional grants and loans were directed toward expanding healthcare, sanitation, and economic empowerment projects. Loan subsidy costs ranged from hundreds of thousands to several million dollars, reflecting the U.S. government's commitment to supporting sustainable development and economic growth in India and other emerging markets.
