In a recent crackdown on cybercrime, West Bengal police have arrested 46 individuals linked to the notorious Jamtara cyber fraud syndicate over the past 15 days. The arrests were made under Operation Cyber Shakti, targeting a network that has been scamming residents in various areas, including Birbhum, Asansol, and Durgapur, through fake job offers and investment scams. The Additional Director General of Police (South Bengal) confirmed that these criminals are connected to both direct and indirect operations of the Jamtara Gang based in Jharkhand. Meanwhile, in Kolkata, there are reports of ATM fraud incidents, where customers have lost significant amounts of money due to scams involving ATM machines. One such incident occurred near the Kishore Bharati Stadium, where a customer reported losing ₹25,000 after their ATM card was trapped in the machine, leading to unauthorized withdrawals.
