In November 2024, the cryptocurrency sector experienced over 30 hacks, resulting in losses totaling approximately $85.53 million, with $25.2 million of that amount recovered. The top five hacks included Thala losing $25.5 million, with $25.2 million recovered and a $300K bug bounty, DEXX losing $21 million, and Gifto losing $12 million. Despite a decline in DeFi attacks, with November's losses at $71 million compared to $343 million the previous year, centralized finance (CeFi) platforms faced escalating attacks, with nine breaches accounting for $724 million in losses year-to-date, including a significant $235 million hit on WazirX. Hackers have been employing advanced tactics such as fake employee and recruiter scams to target hot wallets, with BNB Chain being particularly affected. In response to these security challenges, Ethereum and Uniswap have initiated significant bug bounty programs, offering $1.5 million for Ethereum's Attack-a-Thon and $15.5 million for Uniswap's bug bounty, to enhance blockchain security. Additionally, Crypto.com has launched a groundbreaking $2 million bug bounty program in collaboration with HackerOne, highlighting the industry's commitment to fortifying security measures.
