Recent alerts highlight the increasing prevalence of cyber scams, particularly involving QR codes and malicious apps. Cybersecurity experts warn that scammers are replacing legitimate QR codes with fake ones, leading victims to phishing websites that can compromise personal information and finances. Users are advised to verify QR codes before scanning, especially for financial transactions. Additionally, there are warnings against updating Know Your Customer (KYC) information over the phone, as it may involve harmful third-party applications. Google has responded to the threat of malicious apps by implementing AI-powered threat detection and continuous scanning on its Play Store, aiming to protect users from potential cyber threats. The FBI has also issued warnings regarding suspicious calls that could lead to financial theft, urging users to remain vigilant.
