
The official X account of the Daily Mail (@MailOnline) was compromised on February 2, 2025, and began posting unauthorized cryptocurrency promotions, including announcements about a Solana-based token named $DAILY. The posts, identified as part of a scam, prompted warnings for users not to click on any shared links. The Daily Mail confirmed the breach and stated that its team was actively working to resolve the issue. Separately, the X account of Maria Ressa, CEO of Rappler and Nobel Laureate, was also hacked on February 3, 2025. Unauthorized posts, including cryptocurrency-related content, were shared from her account. Ressa later regained control of her account and clarified that the posts were unauthorized.
