Dell Technologies said an extortion gang calling itself World Leaks gained access to the company’s Customer Solution Centers, a demonstration and test-lab environment, earlier in July. The platform is intentionally segmented from Dell’s production networks and customer systems, the company told cybersecurity news site BleepingComputer. According to Dell, information taken from the environment consists mainly of synthetic data, publicly available datasets and internal test scripts used for product demonstrations. The only legitimate records believed to have been exposed are an outdated contact list. The company did not disclose how the attackers entered the system or whether a ransom has been demanded, citing an ongoing investigation. World Leaks is a recent rebrand of the Hunters International ransomware operation, which has shifted from file encryption to pure data-extortion tactics. Security researchers say the group has claimed hundreds of victims globally but has not yet published Dell’s data. Dell added that no sensitive customer or partner information, nor its broader corporate network, was impacted by the incident.
