A series of new cyber threats have emerged, targeting various user groups and exploiting different vulnerabilities. Researchers have identified a new ransomware named Ymir, which uses advanced memory management tactics to execute malicious code stealthily. Ymir targeted a Colombian organization after credentials were stolen by RustyStealer. Additionally, a new variant of the Remcos remote access trojan (RAT) has been discovered by Fortinet, exploiting a high-severity bug from 2017 to target Windows users via phishing campaigns. Remcos is also exploiting Microsoft Excel files. Another threat, the GoIssue phishing tool, has been reported to target GitHub developers with bulk phishing emails, aiming to steal credentials and compromise repositories. This method has made attacks more scalable and poses a significant risk to corporate supply chains.
