A widespread global IT outage has significantly disrupted healthcare systems, particularly impacting hospitals' Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. The outage, linked to cybersecurity company CrowdStrike and affecting Microsoft systems, has forced many hospitals in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and Canada to cancel elective surgeries, procedures, and non-urgent medical visits. Major healthcare providers like Mass General Brigham and Mass General Hospital have suspended all non-urgent care. GP surgeries and pharmacies in the NHS are unable to access patient records or book appointments, particularly affecting the EMIS Web system. Hospitals in Luebeck and Kiel have also canceled elective operations. Hospitals are reverting to manual processes, slowing down operations and affecting patient care.
