A recent investigation by Satori Threat Intelligence has revealed that more than 1,000 legitimate shopping sites have been compromised to promote fake product listings in a credit card phishing scheme dubbed 'Phish ‘n’ Ships.' This scheme is part of a larger trend of cybercriminal activities targeting online shoppers, with 48% of people reportedly having been scammed while holiday shopping online. Additionally, the use of infostealer malware has been linked to significant data breaches at major companies such as AT&T, Ticketmaster, Santander, Neiman Marcus, and EA. Infostealers, a type of malware designed to steal passwords and cookies stored in browsers, have facilitated these hacks, making it easier for cybercriminals to access sensitive information. The underground industry of infostealers is highly complex and has been instrumental in some of the biggest breaches on the planet, affecting billion-dollar companies.
