Microsoft has introduced Project Ire, a prototype artificial intelligence system designed to autonomously reverse-engineer and classify malware without human intervention. The AI agent demonstrates the capability to analyze unknown software, determine its behavior, and identify whether it is malicious or benign with accuracy reportedly exceeding 90%, with some sources citing up to 98%. Project Ire represents a potential shift in cybersecurity by enabling earlier detection of threats before they spread. Microsoft has also launched the public preview of the Phishing Triage Agent, integrated into Microsoft Defender under the Security Copilot framework, aimed at enhancing phishing detection and response.
