On January 21, 2025, several websites of Swiss municipalities and banks became inaccessible due to cyberattacks attributed to a pro-Russian hacker group, NoName057. The Swiss Federal Cybersecurity Office has linked these attacks to the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, where global leaders are convening. Reports indicate that the cyberattacks have primarily targeted local councils and regional banks, particularly affecting websites in the Zurich and Vaud cantons. Following the initial attacks, the hacker group claimed responsibility for further targeting additional Swiss cities, including Schaffhausen, on January 22.
